Das ist eben die Freiheitspartei und wer möchte nicht Freiheit? Warum wählt nicht jeder die FDP?

Cornelius Van Schaack Roosevelt (January 30, 1794 – July 17, 1871) was an American businessman from New York City and a member of the Roosevelt family.
Roosevelt was born January 30, 1794 in New York City, the son of James Jacobus Roosevelt and Maria Van Schaack, and the last full-blooded Dutch Roosevelt of his line.[1] He attended Columbia College but academic life did not suit him, and he did not graduate. However, he was adept at business; an importer of hardware and plate glass, he became his father's partner, inherited a large fortune, and was one of the five richest men in New York City.[2][3] He was one of the founders of the Chemical Bank of New York City, which later became Chase.[2] He died July 17, 1871 in Oyster Bay, New York.
He married Margaret Barnhill (1799-1861) and had six children, five of whom reached adulthood: Silas Weir, James Alfred, Cornelius Van Schaack, Jr., Robert Barnhill (1829-1906), and Theodore (1831-1878), the father of U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt.

Jedenfalls in Amerika gehörten sie vom Tag A an zur Oberschicht. Der Sklave von Johannes Roosevelt (Urvater der F.D. Roosevelt-Seite) hat den Sklavenaufstand mitgeplant und wurde auf dem Scheiterhaufen verbrannt.

Johannes Roosevelt (called John) (bap. February 27, 1689) was a New York City businessman and alderman and the progenitor of the Oyster Bay Roosevelts, including Theodore and Eleanor Roosevelt. Johannes was a linseed oil manufacturer.
He was baptized on February 27, 1689 in Esopus, New York (near Kingston) while his father Nicholas Roosevelt was living there. Nicholas was the son of the Roosevelt immigrant ancestor, Claes Van Rosenvelt. He moved his family back to New York City, where he was born, by 1690. Johannes married Heyltje Sjoerts (Shourd) on September 25, 1708 at the Reformed Dutch Church of New York. They had eleven children: Margreta (bap. 1709), Nicholas (bap. 1710, died in the West Indies), Johannes (bap. 1712), Heyltje (bap. 1714), Olphert (bap. 1716), Jacobus (bap. 1718, died in infancy), Maria (bap. 1720), Jannetje (bap. 1723, died 1724), Jacobus (bap. 1724), Aeltje (bap. 1726, died 1727), and Cornelius (bap. 1731). Johannes became a freeman in 1730. He was assistant alderman from 1717 to 1727 and alderman from 1730 to 1733.
Johannes Roosevelt's slave, Quack, was one of the accused conspirators in the alleged slave rebellion that terrified New York City in 1741. He was convicted of setting fire to Fort George and executed by being burned at the stake. (See LePore, pp. 59-60, 96-99, & 102-03.)
Johannes was the founder of the Oyster Bay branch of the Roosevelt family. He was the great-great-great-grandfather of United States President Theodore Roosevelt and the great-great-great-great-grandfather of Eleanor Roosevelt.
Eleanor and Franklin were fifth cousins, once removed. They are both descended from Claes Martenszen van Rosenvelt who arrived in New Amsterdam (Manhattan) from Holland in the 1640s. His two grandsons, Johannes and Jacobus, began the Oyster Bay and Hyde Park branches of the Roosevelt family. ER is descended from the Johannes branch and FDR is descended from the Jacobus branch.
Schon interessant, offenbar gibt es überhaupt keine Informationen dazu, wer die Roosevelts in Holland waren. Obwohl alle möglichen Leute es recherchiert haben, lässt sich nichts finden. Eine interessante Theorie besteht darin, dass sie eigentlich gar keine Holländer waren:
